Friday May 14, 2010

Hello everyone!!!

I know what you’re thinking. Ok, first he blogs every day. Then it goes to “3 times a week” which never really happened…I know.

And now one on Monday and uh, Friday! WTF?!?

Well, there’s a few reasons for that and I will get to that very soon…but first.

Today’s theme music is brought to you by…

 MetallicaOne (Studio Version)

And

Eric B. & RakimMicrophone Fiend

Yes, it’s Friday my little monkeys and for the first time…I am actually glad that it is Friday and for no other reason.

So here it is for the first time…

And I actually mean it. TGIF!!! (although I’m not so sure about the “G” part…anyways.)

The reason I’m feeling this way is because I had such an up and down week. Not bad but bland for the most part. Could have just been the weather.

Monday, being the highlight of my week. Hanging out with my friends and having some fun. Doing some drinking and talking shit.

Tuesday was ok…but being so tired from staying out all Monday I was too tired to do anything after work.

Wednesday I talked to my friend Storm Davis at Strange Famous Records about a defect with a t-shirt I received and he hooked it up for me.

Replaced the shirt…free of charge. So Now I have a new one and one with a hole in it. Anyone know how to sew?

After work I went and visited a friend and chilled for a while.

Thursday I kind of got yelled at, at work and that put me in a bad mood.

Today is actually going along pretty nicely. But it being Friday I’m sure that makes it’s a little more bearable.

I received the latest book I ordered from Amazon.com in the mail today…”The Te Of Piglet”

If you don’t have any idea what that book is about…look it up. I’m hoping it will help me with my “spiritual quest” somehow.

But if you really don’t care then shut up.

…the elevators at my job always seem like they are all rushing to see which one of them can open the fastest and take me to my floor when I push the button.

And at first I thought..what nice elevators. LOL!

But then I thought what if one of them was trying to kill me or all of them…and they were rushing to open and trap me and drop me or crush me to death?!?!?

And then I was sad and took the stairs.

LOL…jk!

So what the hell am I going to do with my weekend?!?

I haven’t the slightest clue. I need a plan. Always better to have a plan. I think I already came up with some good stuff.

So maybe I won’t do a …”I’M JUST SAYING.” today.

And remember how I was talking about my blogs earlier…well. I f you didn’t know I make hip hop music…and I perform and produce music for other artists. I am actually very involved with Chicago local hip hop scene.

What does this have to do with my blog? Well I’ll tell ya. I can actually blog from this music website that I actually just signed up for.

Which brings us to today’s featured website.

http://www.reverbnation.com/eplbr

I’m offering FREE downloads if you join my mailing list.

One of those downloads is an exculsive unreleased track that NOT available anywhere else!!!

Not only can I blog, sync my status with Facebook and MySpace(and maybe Twitter too..I’m not sure), I can add music, add show dates, videos, pictures, and a bio. I can even start my own store…which I did and sell my music online.

Now anybody who’s anybody that knows anything about music websites knows that none of this is a new idea…at all.

You can promote shows as well as add and sell your music on MySpace. Promote shows and network on just about any social network.

But at Reverb I can do it all…at one place. Including blogging. You finally get where I’m going with this?

So I’ve been debating about doing all my blogging at Reverb since it will kill 2 birds with 1 stone…so to speak.

  1. I can blog all day everyday at the site … and
  2. If people are still interested in reading my blogs they will have to go to my Reverb profile. Which is what I want people to do anyway.

The reason I haven’t done that YET…is because I initially wanted my blogging life separate from my music life. Why?

Because I felt it would be like showing a different side to myself or some bullshit like that. LOL!

As a music artists I want people to listen to my music and if they want to read a blog…well they can do that too. All at one spot.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is that this will most likely be the last blog I ever do at WordPress.com.

Oh wordpress…we had a good run…short but good.

So please…pretty please with sugar and a cherry on top…go check out my Reverb page. Watch out for the new blogs which will most likely be more music news…and some personal…and all food for thought! While you’re there..check out my music..maybe buy some too.

Monday, May 10, 2010

Hello Mr. Monday. And hello to all my little monkeys. I hope everyone had a good weekend. I know I did.

I think it’s great when I have some really cool plans but I think it’s awesome when things go even better than planned! The Blockhead show was incredible and I’m excited to tell you all about it.

but first…today’s theme music is brought to you by…

BlockheadInsomniac Olympics

 and

The OpusEons

…the woman sitting next to me on the train this morning smelled like old lady perfume and b.o. and it was so strong! Stings the nostrils.

Blockhead feat DJ Signify and The Opus @The Abbey Pub – Chicago – 5/8/2010

So this show was nothing less than AWESOME! My brother Mike and his wife Lola picked me up around 7pm since the  “will call’s”  needed to be there an hour before the show (for some reason). When we got there the doors were not open yet and it took some time for things to get going but that made time for some pre-show drinking at an  undisclosed location. Wink, wink.

Once the doors were opened we went right in to look for the man himself…BLOCKHEAD. Which we found sitting at his merch table. Needless to say we purchased the albums we didn’t already own, got them signed and then took a few pics. Blockhead was a very cool, down to earth guy. I took the opportunity to sit and chat with him for awhile.

The I ran into an old acquaintance that I knew from awhile ago that I met through MySpace. Hip Hop producer Deep (LoDeck, Jak Progresso, 2 Hungry Brothers, etc.) and him and I chatted it up for awhile and exchanged numbers. (gotta network, yo!)

The opening act (whose name  at the moment I can’t remember) was pretty good. More electronica music and stuff.

The Opus went next and if you don’t know who these 2 Illinois based producers are…you better ask somebody! They were releasing their new record this  night as well. (Praying Mantis – Plus) which I bought and it’s totally KICK-ASS AWESOME!!! (check out the track “EONS”…dopeness!) Special guest emcee Lord360 came and rocked the mic for a song entitled “SAVE ME” off the new album…also very dope.

Then it was time for the man of the hour. Blockhead who was accompanied by DJ Signify and they tore shit down. DJ’ing at its finest. Block didn’t do most too many of his own joints but the set they did was amazing. I bought what merch I could and haggled with price a little bit but I managed to walk away with the Blockhead tour CD (signed), The Opus’s new joint (signed) and an older album of theirs. And then I bought a CD from my guy Deep.

I also got a show poster from one of  the Abbey Pub employees(?) He pulled it down from the wall for me. (he was at the door…that’s all I know. LOL!) So I had EVERYONE sign it!

Yea I came off like a fan boy but so what. I had tons of fun. I talked with every single one of the performers that night and it was awesome.

Pics: The Opus and Lord360//Blockhead and Signify//Blockhead pictured with my brother, his wife (Lola), and myself//the SCORE!!!

 …if I didn’t care, I wouldn’t care now would I? …lol!

Books I’ve bought in the last month or so…

Born In The Year Of The Butterfly Knife by Derrick C Brown
I Love You Is Back by Derrick C Brown
Junkyard Ghost Revival by Buddy Wakefield
Some They Can’t Contain by Buddy Wakefield
The Te of Piglet by Benjamin Hoff
A People’s History of the United States: 1492 to Present by Howard Zinn
Slaughterhouse-Five Reissue edition by Kurt Vonnegut
Ham on Rye: A Novel by Charles Bukowski
The Rooming house Madrigals: Early Selected Poems 1946-1966 by Charles Bukowski

If you like to read, like I do, I recommend all of these books. They range from fiction, poetry/creative writing/spirituality and American History.
For some, purchasing 9 books within the last month(or so) doesn’t make any sense since it looks like I have more books than I need to keep me busy for the rest of the year,
Which may be true since I can’t read all 9 at the same time but trust me, I will gobble these books up in no time. :)

I LOVE READING!!! Yay for books.

…also just got the deluxe package for Sage Francis’s new album “LI(F)E” which included a signed copy of the album and poster along with a LI(F)E sticker and button (I love buttons! You better ask somebody.) and a SFR poster as well…awesomeness. Thanks Sage!)

Now it’s time for, “I’M JUST SAYING..” (..oh, yes it is!)

Bobby Brown gets engaged on stage…

Bobby Brown proposed to Alicia Etheridge, his girlfriend and manager, at the annual Funk Fest.

(PEOPLE.com) — For concertgoers at Metro Park in Jacksonville, Florida, on Friday, the hottest ticket at the annual Funk Fest wasn’t the performance by 90s girl group SWV or the line for fruity refreshments as temperatures climbed into the 90s.
It was watching singer Bobby Brown propose to his girlfriend of nearly three years, manager Alicia Etheridge.
Holding their 11-month-old son Cassius, Etheridge joined Brown on stage as he got down on one knee and presented her with a ring. The crowd roared its approval as a beaming Etheridge kissed Brown, who remained kneeling.
Brown, who had a troubled 15-year marriage to Whitney Houston and most recently appeared on “Celebrity Fit Club,” seemed elated to have the audience in his corner.
“We shouted, we screamed,” fan Carol Pearsall told the Florida Times-Union. “We supported him.”
Added her husband, Paul, “Hopefully he’ll get it right this time.”
(for the whole story…if you REALLY don’t anything better to do. Go to …See full article at PEOPLE.com. )

First off…why is this man still relevant? And secondly …why do people still care? If you’re one of those people that still have a Bobby Brown poster hanging up in your room and a copy of “Every Little Step I Take” somewhere on vinyl you might want to get your head checked out. I mean other than New Edition and his (pretty) successful solo career in the 90’s what has he got going for himself these days? (other than single handedly destroying Whitney Houston’s life) Ghost Busters 2??? Ouch!
And Mr. Brown still has a manager? For what? Celebrity Fit Club? And girlfriend… just who do you think you are anyways? This man was married to Whitney Houston. WHITNEY HOUSTON!!! And I know you seen what her did to her.

Just what do you think is gonna happen to you?!?

“…I’M JUST SAYING.”

Music, films, and books are all weapons of mass-distraction. Thankfully, they’re all the right weapons.

website you say…biggity blam!

Updates on the downside 13

May 7, 2010

May 7, 2010

Hello everyone.

I hope you are all in a good mood. I assume that you are since it’s Friday and that seems to be the only day all you little monkeys look forward to anymore. LOL!

Today has been a really interesting day for me emotionally to say the least.

I’ve been through a plethora of emotions today. (see how I used plethora?!) That’s what they call a “sesquipedalian” (I think) and that word right there (sesquipedalian) ironically enough, is also a sesquipedalian. (look it up, geez!)

Before we get into anything today’s theme music is brought to you by…

CopelandChin Up

(from their album “You Are My Sunshine” which is amazing!)

And

From Monument To Masses – “Deafening” – 4/27/07

(this song is the shiz-nit!)

So today I’d like to talk a little but about change and how it affects us all.

The most noticeable change in my life is my age and how I take care of myself accordingly.

I am 34 years old. Yep I know. I look a lot younger….thanks for saying so.

When I was 23, I could go out all night and drink and party and still get up at the butt crack of dawn for work.

If I try doing that at my age now ( and I have)…I’m a zombie at work!

Now health wise..this is never a good idea no matter what your age. Just because you can “deal” with it better at 23 doesn’t mean it won’t have some long-lasting effects on you as you get older. I’m not talking rocket science either. This is all pretty much common knowledge.

I think most of us just ignore it until it does affect us physically!

So, I decided to make some changes in my life and come up with what I’ve always kind of despised as a youth…

and that is a …(say it with me now)

A routine! Ouch.

Why did I despise them so much when I was younger? I guess it was because just like any other young punk I thought I was indestructible.

So now I set something in line.

I wake up and exercise, eat breakfast, take my vitamins, and then shower and get ready for work.

Eat my lunch at a certain time then take a walk.

Walk home from the train after work and then get my stuff ready for the next work day (cloths and my lunch.)

Do what needs to be done or have some fun that evening…then TRY and get to bed at a decent time.

Lately things have been going good for me.

I go to work. I exercise. I pay my bills. Make time for my responsibilities and for myself.

Things have been going pretty good as of late.

However, if you remember the “plethora of emotions” I was talking about…

Well, I never want to get too personal in my blogs because some things don’t need to be put out there for people who don’t need to know about them…right?! Right.

Today I woke up in the best of moods..I mean a really REALLY good mood.

But that didn’t last long or work out the way I had wished. I had an “altercation” with a co-worker that set my day straight into roller coaster mode…and…well…

Let’s just say I have been having a little baby mama drama and then some issues with certain member(s) of my family (whom I did talk with today and now feel like I have resolved those issues with them) but damn…my reactions was very crazy! I got extremely mad very quick and hurt as well.

So I woke up happy, then got annoyed, then got hurt, then angry, then calm, then embarrassed.

Human emotions are a crazy thing.

You may be asking yourself at this point…”well, …how does this have anything to do with “changeMr. President?”

Good question and I’m glad you asked.

The way I deal or have dealt with things in the past have always been very standoff-ish. And I am guilty of pointing the finger a lot!

Today, I felt a change in me, as far as the way I dealt with things. My initial reaction was to go get my gun and regulate…

but after my temper tantrum I calmed down and tried to look at it from a different angle.

Instead of staying mad I tried to listen and explain things from my point of view instead of cramming my opinions down people’s throats.

In these last few months, within this week and amongst these past few days I have come to the crazy conclusion and realization that…

I am finally REALLY growing up.

It may seem a bit lame to you but not everyone has these changes at the same point in their lives.

And it would seem that my time has finally come..so to speak.

Anyways….

…Oh my God! That’s the coolest fucking story I’ve ever heard in my life! Can you tell it again, do you have time?

Speaking of change. I may start changing how I do this whole blog thing..maybe. I like the question of the day and the “I’M JUST SAYING” segment of my blogs but I don’t know…it gets to be a bit much at times.

I’m not making a show…I am writing a blog.

And I do not get paid or sponsored by any of the artists, websites, or people I feature. I feature them because it’s what matters to me… personally.

In the next few weeks (if anyone still cares) my blog my take on a new shape…but then again maybe it won’t be such a big change.

Today there will be no question of the day, or I’m just saying, or any random junk and stuff. However, there will be a featured website.

And I must admit that I have become such a whore to this particular site.

Books, DVD’s, and CD’s be my vice mateys! Arrrrrr!

Here’s a hint…

Updates on the downside 12

May 4, 2010

Hello everyone…

G-wiz I really haven’t got my sh!t together lately. It’s been really busy at work and of course I can’t just sit on my computer and blog all day when I have a job to do. J

Anyways, my weekend was cool and relaxing.

I had dinner with an old friend Friday and then went home and chilled.

Saturday, I worked on some music all effin’ day…I mean that, literally. (I make hip hop music. In case you already didn’t know)

And I didn’t do anything but that. Cooped up in front of a computer for 12 hours…wtf?!

Sunday was cool. I did laundry and cleaned the house. I went to Borders bookstore and picked up a few things.

I also had a chance to relax and hang out with a friend and stayed up way too late! LOL! JK.

Anyways, I decided I’m finally going back to the gym today!

I haven’t gone lately because I keep getting tattoo’s and you can sweat out the ink. Yes you can! I Googled it!

“If at all possible, try not to sweat after getting tattooed. Modify your exercise regimen for a few days so that you don’t “sweat out” your ink. Also, take excessive precautions at the gym; the bacteria that cause staph infections are rampant in gyms and locker rooms, so avoid these if at all possible.”

See!!!

So tonight I am going back…and I’m already running late.

Today’s blog is lame. What can I say. Sometime…I just don’t have the time.

I promise the very next one will be so damn awesome you will want to scream.

Now I must go and get physical and get ripped and junk. (and I don’t mean ripped like “drunk”…I mean in shape. Damn it!)

Left Hanging…

May 3, 2010

Hello everyone –

So I didn’t get to my blog today…(if anyone cares)

I arrived to work late due to some circumstances beyond my control and that pretty much set the tone for the rest of the day.

But I’ll be back tomorrow to blog all about my weekend and a bunch of other cool things.

But for now…I’m going home.

I’m going to take a walk and get a little exercise. Pick up some liquor. Get my stuff ready for the tomorrow.

Make some dinner and then settle down for a nice night cap.

I feel so blah today.

See ya tomorrow.

April 30, 2010

Wow! So I am writing this and my day at work is almost done. I guess I was busy.

But here we are at Friday’s blog…YAY and junk.

So it’s Friday and what? Did you win the lottery? NO? Oh, ok…so shut your face already. LOL!

Sorry y’all but there’s something about people praising Friday like it’s really that great.

Is it? I guess it is if the only time you have any fun is during the weekend. I get it..it’s a break. Time off to relax or whatever.

But if you think about it Friday wins by default. It just HAPPENS to be the day before the weekend. What if it were Tuesday that was the last day of the work week?

Then the saying would be “TGIT” which doesn’t really have the same ring to it I agree. But the way people announce that it’s Friday on Facebook and Twitter and how happy they are that it is Friday..you would think scientists just discovered the day or something.

And then of course once the weekend is over everyone HATES Monday’s and WTF? What did Monday ever do to YOU?

If anything everyone with a job should be happy to see Mr. Monday (consider the unemployment rate in the U.S.)

And then of course there are people out there that could care less…why? Because they work over the weekend.

At my last job my weekend was Tuesday and Wednesday!!! Ewwwww!

Ok, it’s Friday…thanks for the update EVERYONE but now just shut your face and enjoy the weekend!

(this should have been the “I’M JUST SAYING.” portion of my blog…geez!)

Today’s theme music is brought to you by…

Kiss The Girls – Jak Progresso

and

The Honorary Title – Everything I Once Had

all you dreams are dead.

So today in the mail Daddy got him some more goodies

Tattoo Goo for my ever healing tattoo and Jak Progresso’s CD – Random Violence(which could be considered an underground hip hop CLASSIC…if only more people knew about him)

RANDOM JUNK AND STUFF…

The Great Escape – SXSW pt 3!

Sexy Happy Meals are Illegal

In case you forgot I was using those teeth whitening strips. Here’s the before and after…

(I think I see the difference but the one thing I do know for sure is that the camera on my phone sucks! LOL!)

Now it’s time for, “I’M JUST SAYING…”

Doctors: Sleep drug likely not (the) cause of plane suspect’s odd behavior…

(CNN)

A man accused of disrupting a trans-Atlantic flight by claiming he was carrying explosives also told the federal marshal onboard that he had taken the popular sleep aid Ambien, according to court documents.

Ambien, also known as zolpidem, can cause extreme side effects such as e-mailing, cooking and driving while asleep, according to the Food and Drug Administration and published medical research. However, sleep experts say the behavior exhibited by the suspect, Derek Stansberry, 27, is inconsistent with the known side effects of the sleep medication.

Ambien is a prescription drug used to treat insomnia. It belongs to a class of medication called sedative-hypnotics, which slow activity in the brain to allow sleep.

There have been reports of individuals making and eating food, talking on the phone and having sex while not fully awake after taking Ambien with alcohol or other medications, according to the FDA.

Doctors and Sanofi-aventis, the maker of Ambien, say it’s imperative the medication be taken as prescribed, which includes not mixing Ambien with alcohol or other drugs.

Ambien can increase the likelihood for confusional arousal, a state when the brain is half asleep and half awake, say sleep doctors. Usually the person will speak in garble that doesn’t fit the context of his or her environment, said Dr. Michel Cramer Bornemann, a lead investigator of Sleep Forensics Associates.

…ok, so this drug in my opinion is really, really, really scary OR really, really, really awesome! Since I find it hard to sleep myself I wonder what effects this drug might have on me. “making and eating food, talking on the phone and having sex while not fully awake…” YIKES!

Now let’s focus a little bit on the story at hand. So a guy gets on a plane, claims he has explosives…then gets busted and tried to blame it on a sleeping aid??? WTF?!? Really? What terrorist camp did you graduate from home slice?

The only time I could ever think of using this drug as an excuse is IF I ever fell asleep during sex.

“Oh, sorry honey. You didn’t finish? It was the Ambien…I swear!”

“…I’M JUST SAYING.” :)

“listen up you little punks! I know where you live and I’ve seen where you sleep and I swear on everything that is holy your mothers will CRY once they’ve seen what I’ve done to you!”

Today’s question is…

If you could move anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I love Chicago but I live here already…maybe New York. Owwww, Brazil. Seems like there’s a lot of hotties there, lol!

Featured website? Oh yea. Duh!

April 28, 2010

Howdy y’all!

I hope everyone is having a good day. I am. Very productive.

So, today I would like to start off with an announcement….

I decided to trim these blogs down to only 3 times a week. It will still be the same awesome blog. It just won’t be EVERYDAY anymore.

If you’re wondering why…I’ll tell you.

A. I think that writing a blog everyday may just be a little too much. I feel like I’m cramming my life down your throats. LOL!

B. It’s a lot of damn work! LOL!

Plus I think if I give myself a break between blogs I’ll have a little more time to prepare and the blogs will be a lot better and more entertaining to my readers…YOU!

…but just for good measure let’s take a poll. I did ask this question a couple of days ago but either nobody noticed or nobody cares. Sad face. :(

So do you think I should continue doing my blog everyday OR trim it down to every OTHER day? ( Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays)

Today’s theme music is brought to you by…

I wanna talk to Samson!

Since I’ve been thinking about my blog and wondering how many times a week I wanted to do it…and how I was racking my brain.

And punching walls, and pulling my chin hair out …I didn’t put much thought into what I wanted to talk about today.

So I’ll just share some random stuff with ya… ok?

Today in the (actual) mail I received some awesomeness! If you have been reading these blogs (and paying any attention) OR you know me personally…then you know that I am a big fan of Sage Francis. (I featured his website in blog#7) That being said …Daddy got some goodies!

http://cnn.com/video/?/video/us/2010/04/28/mxp.tragic.lottery.winner.cnn

…I think this man IS getting paid back for his losses from a higher power…what do you think?

I can’t even crack a joke about this. I would never…not in this situation.

They’re calling it “bittersweet” and I guess that makes sense.

But dude…if you need help spending some of that loot…I got your back brother!

…I’M JUST SAYING.

So what the “F” already?! I noticed that most of my readers cometh from a little website that most of spend all day on. I can’t because my computer at work has it blocked…but my phone works just fine. Have you guessed it yet? Well I’ll tell you.

Today’s featured website is…

Welcome to Facebook

Not that I need to tell any of YOU about this. Since I get so many pokes I could claim rape. Shout out to all my Facebookies! (yea I said Facebookies…and what? I just came up with that word but I WILL let you use it since you’re cool.)

(rape is not funny btw…I’m just saying)

So today’s question…today’s question….hmmmmm???

I really can’t think of one at the moment.

Ok…well. Damn it!

OH! Uhhhh…here’s kind of a lame question but I think it’s fun.

If you could rewind, pause, and fast forward your day (like in the movie “Click” with Adam Sandler) would you do it?

Believe or not that’s a tough one for me…since I would and would NOT want this power. LOL! I’d rather not even have the option.

Anyways…

I want to send a super-duper, extra, EXTRA LARGE, shout out to a certain friend of mine…you know who you are! AWESOMENESS!

(if you’re not sure if I’m talking about you or not…I’m probably NOT! And don’t ask!) :)

April 27, 2010

Howdy people.

I hope everyone is having a good day. I’m kind of just starting my day out.

It always takes me 20 to 30 minutes to settle in here at work so I try to get here a little earlier. (blah)

Today’s theme music is brought to you by…

Sole & The Skyrider Band – “A Sad Day For

and

Cannibal Corpse – I Will Kill You

Spinderella cut it up one time!

Today I’d like to talk about summer. To put it simply…I can’t wait.

In a city like Chicago there is just so much to do and see.

Millennium Park

http://www.millenniumpark.org/

Grant Park

Grant Park, Chicago

Chicago Downtown

Chicago Museum of Science and Industry

Museum of Science & Industry

The Taste of Chicago

Taste of Chicago 2010 Profile – Chicago Festivals and Events

…and then of course you can always check out Metromix Chicago…

Chicago Events and Things to Do | Metromix Chicago

and other websites of its kind to find out what’s happening around the city. (if you don’t live in Chicago…just Google your city. You should be able to find cool events in your neck of the woods.)

I’m trying to get my vacation on! We’ll see how that pans out for me because at this point I can’t really decide where and what I want to do.

Also, one of my main things that I want to do this summer is try any and every new place/restaurant/bar/club/event I can find.

Up until now my job and even more so …my income has been a problem. My last job didn’t pay much and then right before I quit they cut my hours IN HALF!!!

So all I could do was shop at Aldi’s and stay in the house. Aldi’s you rock btw!

ALDI – home page

Now that I have nights and weekends off at my lovely new (full time) job I have a little more free time and pocket change. Thank goodness!

I feel like I want to really enjoy the city this summer and do thing s I wouldn’t normally do…try something different and live life to the fullest.

I’m so guilty of normality it’s not even funny. So I’m really excited to see what types of things I can get into this summer.

RANDOM STUFF AND JUNK…

I came across this clip when MySpace was still poppin’. I think it’s hilarious! (Draaaaaannnnnnnk!)

…army guy. LMAO!

Love at the J-O-B!

So on my way to work I was racking my brain over what else I should talk about today and then somewhere between thinking about what I need to get done at work and people watching on the train this morning it hit me… romance at the workplace

Don’t ask me how I got this from that just go with me here. LOL!

Maybe every single one of you have a story on this subject… maybe not.  :)

I would figure though that everyone has an opinion on the matter.

I tried to do a little research and this is what I came up with…

“I know everyone swears that office dating is a recipe for disaster, but according to recent studies cited in Fortune and GQ magazines, somewhere between 22 and 50 percent of office romances lead to marriage. So someone’s doing something right. Possibly in the cubicle right next to yours!

That said, for every office romance that culminates with an exchange of gold rings, there are many more that dissolve into tears, jeers and uncomfortable silences.”

(ok, so I did very little research but at least you got a statistic out of it! Geez!)

I think it goes without saying that if you date someone you work with and things go to hell that it’s going to suck! But at the same time all of us spend about 1/3 of our day at the old 9 to 5. The rest of the time we’re either sleeping (or trying to sleep) or we are taking care of business or trying to sneak in a few moments of fun before we have to get up and do it all over again. So I guess it would be understandable to find that special someone at work, right?

I don’t know what to think. I have eyes and my eyes can see. And my eyes can see attractive women at work. Blah.

What do you think about it? Have you had a bad experience dating a co-worker?

Or do you work side by side with your “snuggle bunny” and love it?!

Sweep the leg Johnny!

Now it’s time for, “I’M JUST SAYING…”

Should we fear space aliens?

(CNN) – Stephen Hawking’s new documentary premiered Sunday night on the Discovery Channel. In it, he claimed that intelligent alien life almost certainly exists and that the search for it is valuable. He also suggested that the potential threats posed by contact with alien intelligence should discourage us from actively sending out messages to the cosmos.

As anyone who has seen the Discovery Channel broadcast knows, it did an excellent job of explaining astrobiology and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. It illustrated how vast the search is (and will become) and its potential impact on Earth’s inhabitants.

We earthlings are fairly new at technology (100 years of transmitting electronic signals) in a very old galaxy (10+ billion years). The SETI Institute’s optical and radio searches can only detect life capable of technology more advanced than ours. If such life is less advanced, their technology will not be detectable across the huge distances of interstellar space (smoke signals don’t get very far!).

Watch Jill Tarter’s TEDTalk about searching for alien intelligence

The ultimate success of SETI also depends upon the average longevity of technologies (assuming there are others out there besides ourselves). Longevity or “L” is the last term in the Drake Equation, a formula designed to estimate the number of communicative civilizations in our galaxy. In fact, the length of time a technologically advanced species might continue to transmit is completely unknown and unknowable until, or unless, contact is made.

I think that Prof. Hawking made the point that a short-lived technological society (a small value for “L”) means little chance of contact. But it “L” is large, it is likely that SETI searches will succeed and that the civilization that’s transmitting is using a technology that is older and more advanced than our own. Of course he’s right, but there’s a lot of room for different opinions about what contact with an advanced technology would mean.(you know where you can find more on this story…http://www.cnn.com/)

First off let me just say…I love aliens! I have some sort of weird infatuation with them…kind of. I for one think that this is fascinating but what would the discovery of “intelligent alien life” actually do or mean to us? If movies have anything to say about it we’ll just shoot them all dead or throw water on them. (nobody got the movie reference? Damn it!) If we could somehow manage to communicate properly without starting a war of the worlds we might learn a lot… or maybe we will learn nothing and shoot them all dead anyways. Assuming they can die from our weapons.

I think that there is other life forms out there. I mean, space is pretty big, right? There’s got to be a lot more out there that we know absolutely nothing about. And if God exists and he (or she) created all of this (the planets and the stars and shit)I would assume that God didn’t stop (or maybe even start) with us

The thing I don’t get is why these so-called “intelligent” life forms only seem to abduct the less intelligent (usually intoxicated) life forms from our planet!

If they want to learn about “us” and we want to learn more about “them” we can have a sit down. I’m all for it. But just for the record… no one is sticking anything up my butt!!!

…I’M JUST SAYING.

Today’s question is easy peasy…

What kind of awesome plans do you have for SUMMER?

…what’s that? You like hip hop and you like to go out and you live in Chicago? Me too!

Which brings us to today’s featured website

 Subterranean

2011 West North Avenue
Chicago, IL 60647-5413
(773) 278-6799

The Subterranean has always been a place for hip hop heads to go and showcase their skills.

Famous for their Tuesday Hip hop open mic sessions! I’ve seen some incredible emcee’s/rappers do their thing. (including myself..in case you didn’t already know!)

Drink specials, ladies get in FREE all night (only $5 for the guys), the kitchen has some pretty tasty food and the crowd is always live as well as diverse.

It’s perfect for any hungry rapper ready to prove themselves,  if you’re looking to network and meet other artists or if you just want to come and enjoy the dope (hip hop) music and scenery. Check out what they got going on every other day. They also have plenty of live shows upstairs.

Updates on the downside 8

April 26, 2010

April 26th, 2010

Hello EVERYONE!!!

How is everyone doing today. I know it’s Monday and most of you don’t care too much for this day but I’m in a pretty good mood.

I had an ok weekend. I didn’t do much. It was very relaxing.

So Friday I DID end up singing ONE karaoke song but it was only to save/assist the people trying to sing the song.

What song you ask. Biz Markie – Just A Friend! LOL! Surprisingly I still knew all the words…by heart. I usually do NOT get anywhere near a karaoke microphone but I didn’t mind singing a song from the BIZ!

Today’s theme music is brought to you by…

The Smiths – There is a light that never goes out

and

Biz Markie – ‘Just A Friend‘ (Music Video)

…I just had to do it. Enjoy!

Needless to say it was a fun night. The Birthday girl got a little too drunk but hey, it was her birthday!

Saturday was kind of laid back but cool. I paid some bills and did my food shopping in the morning.

Then went to…

Reckless Records

www.reckless.com/

and The Exchange

http://www.myexchangefranchise.com/

…and picked up some movies. I don’t watch any T.V. but I LOVE my DVD movies! (these store are both new/used record stores. So I get my movies for CHEAP!)

Also, I picked up some toiletries. I decided to buy some whitening strip things. I got the Target brand but it’s all the same. I started using the whitening strips on Saturday so by Friday my chompers should be pearly white!

(I took a before picture..I look weird. Yikes!)

…I like me some Crest Pro-Health!!!

Then I went to Uprise (http://www.upriseskateshop.com/) and bought some new shoes. Now I know what you might be thinking…WTF! This guy pisses away all his money! But I assure you that is NOT the case. I get all the use I can out of the things I buy…

(these are my new shoes.)

…as a matter of fact I think the last time I did buy a pair a shoes it was last year (a year ago). And I know the soles are not falling off my old kicks but they are pretty old.

image029

and these are the old shit kickers!

image030

(and as you can see I walk on my heel.)

ANNOYANCE! Lol!

Sunday it was a chill day. Kind of gloomy. It was raining on and off. I did my laundry. I go to a place right down the street from me.

While waiting for my cloths to get clean I went for a walk. There’s always plenty to look at around the Chicago streets.

I decided to take a few pictures of the art work that was up on some of the walls around my neighborhood.

…This is some good stuff. I’m actually thinking about taking pics of art and other interesting things I see and share them with you in the future. We’ll see how that works.

Friends. How many of us have them? FRIENDS!

OK…so enough about my weekend. Let’s move on.

Today I’d like to talk about friendships. How important are they to you?

Do you keep your friends “fo life” or have you out grown a few of them?

I know it’s sad but I have defiantly out grown MORE than a few of my friends.

The reason this subject is on my mind this morning is because I just had a falling out with someone who I thought was pretty close to me.

And this weekend just kind of sealed the deal for me as far as ending things completely.

I’m not going to say any names…and don’t ask. Or guess. Or ask me to tell you if you guess it right!

It’s just sad to me how some people act.

But how should I feel in a moment like this? Should I be angry and upset or should I just let it slide off my back and move on?

I guess it all depends on how much this person really meant to me. To be honest, they meant a lot to me.

So being upset was my initial reaction.

Then I just got sad. Then I just seemed desperate…which sucks and does not match the type of person I am.

So I said “fuck it!” If this person is not going to answer my calls, texts or e-mails…what else can I do?

I deleted them from Facebook. Deleted their phone number from my phone, their e-mail, any pictures I had of them…etc.

The really peculiar part of all of this is…I don’t even know exactly what I did to make them act this way towards me.

I went over it and over it in my head all last week and this weekend…and the only answers I did come up with were not worthy of this type of behavior.

So if by chance the person I am talking about is reading this…at this point all I can say this…

KICK ROCKS ASSHOLE!

(Rant sequence complete.)

Funny and REALLY funny!

Now it’s time for, “I’M JUST SAYING…”

I’m going BACK to the gym!

(this is a picture of Ruby Gettinger. Weighing in at 700lbs!)

HLN host and co-host of The View Joy Behar talked with Style Network’s star of Ruby, Ruby Gettinger about losing weight and not realizing she was fat – Until she saw the show.

“I would look in the mirror,” Ruby said on the show Tuesday. “And I was, like, you know anorexic people look in the mirror and they see themselves fat. I would look in the mirror and I didn’t see myself as big as I was,” she said. Adding, “The first time I saw myself was when I started the documentary.”

Ruby stars in her own reality TV show about her journey with weight loss on Style Network (Sundays, 8 p.m.). Since the beginning of her struggle, Ruby has lost 400 pounds – Starting at 716 pounds at the beginning of the show.

“I wasn’t eating because I was hungry,” Ruby said in an interview with People magazine. “Food controlled me.”

In her interview with Joy, Ruby admitted she was happy at 700 pounds but she knew if she didn’t lose the weight she was going to die. Ruby says she felt her body “shutting down” and the older she got, the more challenging it was to function normally. For example, Ruby talks about her “joints not moving”.

Ok…so I know this might be a touchy subject for some people. (including me!…well, sort of) Real talk…I go up and down the scale so quickly it’s enough to make your head spin! And I know that the obesity epidemic is a really big deal here in the U.S. and that some people can’t control the amount of weight they gain because of certain health issues or their hereditary genes but come on! Lady, you REALLY didn’t think you were fat? Now I’m a pretty big guy standing at 6’3” tall but this woman is/was MORE than twice my weight! At this point it would be like Charlie Murphy looking in the mirror and not thinking he was black!!! (CHARLIE MURPHYYYYYYY! You’re awesome! Don’t beat me up.) What I’m saying is…it should have been more than obvious to this woman. It’s one thing to be happy but it’s another thing to be healthy. Now I’m not telling anyone how to live their life nor am I saying that the world isn’t full of different types of people. I like different…but we are talking health issues here and I’m pretty sure this woman is somewhat delusional. I hate to sounds shallow or cruel in any way but this story has brought me a new inspiration to lose weight and try to eat healthier! Seriously, in all seriousness. And just for the record…I am NOT making fun of this woman but at the same time I do not feel any pity for her either. She’s a grown woman (no pun intended) and she is free to do what she wants.

However, this woman gives a whole new meaning to the term “LOTS OF LOVING!”

…I’M JUST SAYING.

Shout out to Bret Michaels! I hope you pull through this quick and start feeling better soon.

(In case you didn’t already know…)

(PEOPLE.com   – As Bret Michaels continues to be watched closely by his doctors, a source reveals the rocker’s excruciating moments before he was taken to the emergency room.

According to the source, Michaels, 47, said the headache that prompted him to call for an ambulance felt “like [getting] hit in the head with a baseball bat over and over again.”

Often referred to by doctors as a “thunderclap headache” because of the intensity and suddenness of the pain, such headaches are a tell-tale symptom of the kind of brain hemorrhage that Michaels suffered.

The source close to the situation adds, “Bret is still in ICU. He still has the headache and is heavily sedated.”

A statement on his fan site noted that doctors are still searching for the source of the bleeding.

“In some patients, doctors never find the source,” says Dr. Keith Siller of New York University’s Comprehensive Stroke Care Center. The bleeding could be very small, or the rupture itself can “cure” the source of the problem, says Dr. Siller.

If no source of an aneurysm or an abnormal vein-artery connection known as an AVM is found, “you basically just wait for the symptoms to go away,” says Dr. Siller. The patient typically remains under close observation, as Michaels is, so doctors can monitor for possible complications.

But if the patient is able to speak, “they’re on the better end of things,” says Dr. Siller, noting that physical therapy and speech therapy are often required to make a full recovery.

On TV’s “Celebrity Apprentice,” on which Michaels is a participant, Sunday night’s episode carried a post-script.

Accompanying slow-motion footage of Bret carrying luggage across a tarmac, a voiceover said, “Everyone here at NBC wishes Bret Michaels a speedy recovery.”

Today’s question is more for me but I still would like your input.

Do you think I should keep doing these blogs EVERYDAY OR only 2 or 3 times a week?

I have my own reasons as to why I’ve been pondering over this but I would really like to hear what you, the readers, think. Thanks.

Oh and I almost forgot. Going back to this weekend I donated a little money to a charitable organization called Misericordia/Heart of Mercy.

I kind of did it on a whim because the opportunity presented itself and I was in a giving mood.

Which brings us to today’s featured website…

We promote development of natural family and community support, community awareness, education and advocacy.

(I’m actually looking to help out some more for other organizations but I would rather do it by giving my time and volunteering. Anyone have any ideas?)
